If so they are part of the EMC9 Suite and not what is known/sold as the stand alone Decoder Pack that allows you to watch DVD's with WMP, independent of having CinePlayer installed.ĮMC 9 has a repair function, if you run it and point it to your disc or download it should restore the Suite to what it was from the disc or download. Where did they come from the Easy Media Creator 9.0 disc or download? No matter what you call it "Sonic's CinePlayer CPDECPACK.msi or Decoder Pack" I think your confusing Sonic's CinePlayer and what your calling CPDECPACK.msi or Decoder Pack. So, what are the specific steps necessary to reinstall the Decoder Pack? And, going through the EMC 9.1 "modify" installer option, via the Add/Remove Windows XP applet, does not, intuitively, indicate where I can select to reinstall the Decoder Pack. msi installer file, both from EMC 9.0 and from EMC 9.1 however, whenever I attempt to install either one of these, I receive a message box requesting me to run "setup.exe." There does not appear to be an associated setup.exe file for this particular installation. And, if possible, what I could do, short of an uninstall/reinstall, to reinstall the Decoder Pack. Moreover, I am curious to know what I am doing wrong, if anything, that may be causing this installer not to function, as one would expect. And, I was curious to check with others, regarding my issues in attempting to reinstall the Decoder Pack. So, I was wondering if others have been successful in reinstalling the CPDECPACK.msi or Decoder Pack, without removing the entire EMC 9.x suite. In other words, I am trying to make life more simple, if possible, in addition, trying not to put my system through another EMC 9.x uninstall/reinstall. It appears to be reasonable that one would expect that if I have this installer, I should be able to install the Decoder Pack, into an already existing and successful installation of EMC 9.x. So, I do wish to keep EMC 9.1, but, I do want the CPDECPACK.msi reinstalled, without having to uninstall and reinstall EMC 9.x. So, as I recall from a procedure I conducted a few days ago, the Decoder Pack was uninstalled, as I was attempting to remove the "Media Manager Services" and "Media Manager" applications that make up EMC 9.0/9.1. It would appear that what you have tried to do, isn't going to work.Īctually, I do use EMC 9.0/9.1 fairly often, mostly to create CDs/DVDs however, I did not want the additional services of RoxWatchTray9.exe, RoxWatch9.exe, etc., running, taking up valuable memory resources, on an older system. It appears that you have no use for the EMC 9/9.1 software, so you can either reinstall the software, do a repair of the software, through Add/Remove Programs, and do what I said to do in Post #2, or you can uninstall the software and purchase the Decoder Pack, shown in the link that I posted in Post #4. Do you use EMC 9/9.1 for anything? Edited Apby grandpabruce You only needed to go into the options, in Media Manager, and have it stop watching folders. You don't need EMC 9 installed, if you have the Decoder Pack download.īTW, you didn't need to remove Media Manager to stop it from watching your hard drives. Reinstall the Decoder Pack, and see what happens. Thank you, in advance, for everyone's input. How can I reinstall the Sonic CinePlayer Decoder Pack, without uninstalling/reinstalling the entire EMC 9.x suite? Additionally, my preference would be not to install Sonic's CinePlayer, as I would prefer to simply use Windows Media Player to play my DVDs. Now, I am unable to play DVDs, via Windows Media Player. However, in removing these services, the Sonic CinePlayer Decoder Pack was also removed. From what I could tell, this was the application that "watches" our hard drives for media files, which I do not want. In an attempt to cleanup some unnecessary Roxio-based services, after the installation of EMC 9.1, I removed both "Media Manager Services" (as listed in EMC 9.0) and "Media Manager" (as listed in EMC 9.1). Recently, I rebuilt my system and reinstalled EMC 9.0/9.1.
